Brenda Alvarez, MSW, LCSWA
Welcome to Hearth Counseling & Consulting
I’m Brenda Alvarez, a bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I’m so glad you’re here.
Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and you don’t need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. Sometimes, simply having a space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and know that someone is genuinely listening can make a meaningful difference.
My hope is to create that kind of space for you—a place filled with warmth, compassion, curiosity, and absolutely no judgment. We will start wherever you are and move forward together, at a pace that feels right for you.

My Approach to Therapy
At the heart of my work is the belief that every person deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and understood.
I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, patience, and genuine curiosity about who you are and what matters to you. I don’t see you as a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I see a whole person with a unique story, relationships, culture, experiences, strengths, struggles, and hopes for the future.
My approach is collaborative, person-centered, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and rooted in family-systems thinking. Rather than asking only, “What is wrong?” I am interested in understanding, “What have you experienced, what has helped you survive, and what do you need now?”
Therapy doesn’t have to be a place where you feel analyzed or judged. I want our sessions to feel human. There may be difficult conversations and moments of vulnerability, but there can also be laughter, celebration, discovery, and moments when things finally begin to make sense.
You bring your story and lived experience; I bring support, clinical knowledge, curiosity, and compassion. Together, we will identify what is most important to you and work toward meaningful changes that feel authentic to your life.

A Little About Me
I believe that who we are outside of our professional roles matters, too. Outside of the therapy room, I value family, personal growth, staying active, learning, and experiencing life.
Some of the things that bring me joy include:
Bodybuilding and strength training
Traveling and experiencing different cultures
Spending quality time with family
Trying and cooking new recipes
Learning new hobbies and challenging myself to try something new
Reading self-help and personal growth books
A Special Welcome to My Spanish-Speaking Community
You should not have to leave your culture, language, or values at the door when you come to therapy. They are part of your story, and there is room for all of them here.
También ofrezco terapia en español. Será un honor acompañarte en este proceso.
