My Approach to Therapy

I view counseling as a process through which we explore, clarify, and identify any

issues or concerns together. This may look different during each counseling session and with each client based on personality and need. It will also look different for individuals, couples, and groups. We will work together to create goals in order to reach an ultimate goal of leading a fulfilling life and being your whole self. I believe in reaching a higher level of self-awareness as well as self-compassion. A better understanding of yourself and place in your world can begin the process of change and progress. Our therapy together will provide you with a safe place to explore your feelings, actions, and decisions without having to minimize or justify. It will allow you to open up to new possibilities and to experience a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

In the professional space, I honor and welcome reciprocal feedback. As much as I may provide you with observations and feedback, I appreciate the same in return to ensure that your therapy experience is what you need it to be. I will always work to bring intentionality and kindness in receiving this feedback.

Areas of Focus

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: identifying the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions to produce a more tolerable response.

  • Attachment Based Therapy: exploration of attachment and emotional needs to create more fulfilling interactions and relationships.

  • Family/Relational Therapy: identifying generational patterns, exploring interaction cycles, and creating new cycles with new emotional responses.

  • Couples/Emotionally Focused Therapy: utilizing underlying emotions, exploring unmet needs, and identifying emotional wounds to dismantle the negative interaction cycles that keep you feeling stuck.

  • Trauma Focused Therapy: processing past traumas using evidence based care.

  • Solution Focused Therapy: exploring concrete and beneficial solutions to presented problems.

  • Person Centered/Whole Person Therapy: providing therapy based on the ‘whole person’ and their individualistic needs.

A Little About Me

I currently reside in the Raleigh area with my spouse, child, and dog. We love spending time together outside and exploring new places to play. I love finding new restaurants, trying new recipes, reading a good book, getting lost in a movie, relaxing at home, taking walks, and going shopping.
