New Therapy Groups, New Team Members & May Updates from Hearth

May at Hearth Counseling & Consulting

May is a full month at Hearth, and we’re excited to share a few meaningful updates with you, including our new therapy groups, new team members, Mental Health Awareness Month reflections, Mother’s Day support, and new blog posts from our team.

We’re now offering virtual therapy groups for parents, mothers, and individuals navigating some of life’s most tender and vulnerable seasons.

Each group is led by a licensed therapist and offers a balance of emotional support, guided discussion, education, and connection with others who may be walking through similar experiences. Groups are intentionally kept small, typically 8–10 participants, and are open to anyone located in North Carolina. Most groups run for 8 weeks, meet virtually for 90 minutes, and are self-pay at $65 per session.

Current groups include:

Early Pregnancy Loss Support

 Support with Fertility Challenges

Late-Term Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support

NICU & Medically Complex Parenting Support

New Parent Support Group, 0–12 Months

 Parenting Support Group

Whether you are moving through grief, infertility, postpartum adjustment, parenting stress, or the emotional impact of NICU or medically complex parenting, these groups were created to offer support, connection, and practical tools.

Meet Our New Team Members

A few new faces and a few exciting changes behind the scenes at Hearth!

As our practice continues to grow, we’ve recently welcomed Da’Vonnya, Haleigh, and Karen to our team to help strengthen client support, community outreach, scheduling, communication, and the overall experience at Hearth.

Karen is now accepting clients both in-person, in Raleigh, and virtually.

Da’Vonnya Smith,

Administrative Manager

Supporting front-office operations, medical billing and coding, and patient coordination.

Karen Capehart,

MA, LCMHC-A

Supporting identity exploration, religious trauma, eco-anxiety, and life transitions with compassionate care.

We’ll be sharing more about the rest of our team in the coming months so you can get to know the full range of support available at Hearth.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health is part of our overall health and that support can make a meaningful difference. SAMHSA recognizes May as a time to increase awareness about the role mental health plays in overall well-being and to connect individuals and communities with support.

At Hearth, this month is also a reminder that seeking support does not have to wait until things feel unmanageable. Therapy can be a space to process, heal, build coping tools, and feel more connected to yourself and the support around you.

Mothers Day can bring up many different emotions

For some, it is joyful. For others, it can feel complicated, heavy, tender, or even lonely. It may bring up grief, longing, infertility, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, strained relationships, postpartum changes, or the quiet pressure to “hold it all together.”

However this season feels for you, we hope you give yourself permission to move through it with gentleness. Motherhood, mothering, loss, caregiving, and longing are all deeply human experiences, and support is available when you need a place to process them.
